Terms of service
Last updated:
1. Who we are
LiveCanvas is provided by LVL99, a société par actions simplifiée unipersonnelle (SASU) registered in France under number 107 637 951 R.C.S. Versailles, with a share capital of 5 000,00 euros (“LVL99”, “we”, “us”). Contact: livecanvas@lvl99.com.
2. The service
LiveCanvas is a web application for drawing alone or together with up to three other people, with a chat. You can draw alone without logging in (“Draw offline”); to draw with others, keep offline sessions or post to Bluesky, you log in with an existing Bluesky / AT Protocol (ATProto) account. When you draw offline without logging in, your drawing and the brush presets you make or import are not kept: they are lost when you close the canvas or leave the page, so save an image of your drawing and export your presets if you want to keep them. The service is provided free of charge, “as is”, and may change or stop at any time.
A person who hosts a drawing session (“host”) chooses who can join: anyone with the session’s link (public session), or only people they invite (private session). The host can remove people from the session, who then can’t rejoin unless the host lets them. A session ends when the host closes it or leaves. A host can send the people they invite their invitation by Bluesky direct message; the people they invite may not accept direct messages, in which case the host can share the invitation link another way.
You can also draw alone in a private offline session, which no one else can join. Offline sessions are saved only in your browser, on your device: they can’t be opened from another browser or device, and your browser may delete them (see our privacy policy). When a session you joined ends because the host left or removed you, your canvas becomes an offline session.
You can support LiveCanvas with a voluntary donation, using the “Donate” button, which takes you to a payment page run by Revolut. A donation is a gift: it doesn’t buy anything or give you any extra rights to the service, which stays free of charge and “as is”. Revolut’s own terms apply to the payment.
3. Your account
Your login is handled by the server that hosts your ATProto account (for example Bluesky). You are responsible for keeping that account secure. You can log out of LiveCanvas at any time, which revokes LiveCanvas’s access to your account.
When you log in, you allow LiveCanvas to: identify your account; create posts on your behalf when you choose to post; upload images you choose to post; and send direct messages you choose to send (for example session invitations). LiveCanvas never posts or sends messages without your action.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use LiveCanvas to:
- create or share illegal content, or content that infringes other people’s rights;
- harass, threaten or impersonate others;
- send spam or unsolicited invitations;
- attack, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to the service or other users.
We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these rules.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the drawings and messages you create. Drawings and chat messages made in a session are shared with the people in that session, who can keep a copy (for example a screenshot, or the canvas after the session ends). The display name and avatar you choose are also shown to the people in your sessions: only upload an image as your avatar if you have the right to use it, and the acceptable use rules above apply to both. Only share a public session’s link with people you are happy to draw with. Only upload or paste brush shape images you have the right to use. Brush preset files you share or import keep their author’s name and handle; presets from other people are their own work, provided as they are. We do not store session drawings or chat messages. When you post to Bluesky, that post is governed by your account provider’s terms.
When you post a session’s drawing to Bluesky, the post mentions the host and the people who drew in the session by default, which notifies them. Only post a drawing that other people helped make if they are happy for it to be shared, and remove the mentions of anyone who doesn’t want to be named. In a private session, only the host can post its drawing, unless the host allows the others to.
6. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, LVL99 is not liable for indirect damages, loss of data or loss of drawings, including drawings lost when a session’s connection fails, and offline sessions removed by the limit of 20 or deleted by your browser. Save screenshots of drawings you want to keep. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under French law.
7. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.
8. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. These terms are governed by French law, and the courts of Versailles have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules.
