Latest release adds the following features:

Online public sessions

👪️ You can now create and host public sessions using LiveCanvas! This was the main draw (hur hur) of the app, so it’s great to finally see it in action.

🎉 When you host, you’re the toast of the party! Up to 4 artists can be in a session. Anyone can join provided they have a link to your session.

⚠️ Just remember that peers connect to you—if you reload the browser or close the window/tab, it will close the session.

Online private sessions

🌐 You can also create private sessions, where peers can only connect if they’ve been added to the list of invitees. You can invite up to 8 people using their Bluesky handle, but remember that only 4 people can participate in a session at the same time. You can even send them invitations via DMs* in Bluesky!

* Note: whether an invitation arrives depends on your invitee’s Bluesky chat settings. By default, Bluesky users only accept messages from people they follow, so your invitees need to follow you on Bluesky, or accept messages from everyone. Otherwise just copy the invitation link and send it to them via another method.

Offline private sessions

🧍 Draw by yourself! Up to 20 offline private sessions will be stored within your device. Also, if a host closes a session, it will get turned into an offline private session that you can continue all by yourself. Sometimes being alone is good too!

📢 If you’re hosting a public session, that means you want people to draw with you, right? Find your people by advertising your public #livecanvas session on Bluesky.

Post session progress snapshots via Bluesky

👏 Post snapshots of your collective artwork to Bluesky, so others may enjoy it.

🤫 If you’re hosting a private session, you can even control permissions to allow/deny users this ability.
